Derooted, Toronto’s fresh and full-service creative agency, has entered the rare world of digital mapping with photographer and engineer Javier Lovera. Recently, they embarked on a collaboration for the fourth annual BMW Art Auction, in support of the Air Canada Foundation.
Roller Derby is coming for you, from every corner of this fine globe. Blood and Thunder —the world’s premier roller derby magazine— is bringing the first ever Roller Derby World Cup to Toronto this December.
December 2nd to 4th will see 12 teams rolling in to compete for world roller derby domination. England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, France, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Argentina and of course lucky number team 13— Canada, jamming, blocking and hitting their way to the title bout. Being on hand to see some of this country’s elite already, this promises to be one heck of a weekend.
This week we were pleasantly surprised to hear that ‘Big Red’ (aka Rogers) would be lending a helping hand to small businesses. In celebration of small business month (October, who knew.) Rogers has created a micro site offering free web advertising for small businesses who submit a web banner, companies who submit are also entered to win $20,000 in advertising. Select ads will also be featured on other Rogers sites during small business month.
Most of the of the banners that are up are quite ugly though! You would think that with the advertising space being free people would put a little more effort into the design of their ad, guess not.
Regardless, it is nice to see some give from a large corporation in contrast to the constant take. Maybe paying my phone bill this month will be a little less painful.
