Wacky, Wonderful, Wallace Media

Towards the end of 2009 we had a client referred to us by a good friend (thanks J.C.!). Our initial contact via email quickly led me to believe that this was going to be one of those projects that you can really have fun with. This wasn’t necessarily because of the project itself, but rather because of the client and their passion for their trade. Doug Wallace, the charm and brains behind Wallace Media was pure laughs throughout the creative process. He had a clear vision of where he wanted us to go with his site from the very beginning, “I want a floating, rotating cube”! His constant attention to detail made me smile as I realized we had already noted many of the same revisions before he had even requested them.

Use your Hands!

Art and design have always been a barometer of the times and current cultural climate. Typography in the Renaissance was a direct interpretation of ornate handwriting of the day. Renewed interest in Greco-Roman culture influenced the Humanist type faces that basically define modern typography to this day etc. etc..I could sit and regurgitate Robert Bringhurst’s “The Elements of Typographic Style” but Id rather not.

The Importance of Blogging

I may just be the worst person in the entire world for maintaining my own blog but lets face it; Blogging is if not more important than voting in the elections. As an advertising agency / creative boutique this is one of the very first things we explain to our clients. The importance of building your community and interacting to your target market. Its not as difficult as you may think so go ahead and start a blog.

Week one as an intern

I have officially completed my first week as an intern here at Derooted. I have been asked to write a personal blog, which is another first for me on the job. Although I have expanded my Adobe skills considerably in the past week, I thought it would be more fun to blog about the things I’ve learned about Derooted.

Mi casa es tu casa

Welcome to Derooted! For those of you that missed our opening throw-down (how could you?) we have stitched together this panoramic of space. I can’t begin to explain how proud we are, our office has quickly transformed into this amazing creative playground which we yearn to get to in the mornings. From our pimped out Rancilio coffee machine, to our ‘Mini Ping-to-the-Pong’ table, from our giant digital white board to our exotic plants and lush Canadian moss. Anywhere you look or sit, we are in a cauldron of creativity. Go into the box, think out of the box, deconstruct the box, imagine the box, be the box, sleep with the box, dance with the box, mind meld with the box, BOX the BOX!!!

We invite you to pay us a visit and see first hand the awesome work our team has done to make this space a dream come true!
